Geek Blog – Hit by the Green Koopa Shell of Jealousy

Happyseamstress recently posted the “Nerdiest Sweater Vest in the World,” an awesome knitted, wearable, World 1-1.  She even reports having to dye her own yarn to get the right color for the pipe and bush.

Geeky Sweatervest

Kotaku author Owen Good calls it like it is:

So if this sweater makes him the world’s biggest geek, it also makes her the world’s most awesome wife. (cited)

See the back of this awesome creation after the jump.  (And, for the record, my GeekWife is the most awesome).

Geek Blog – Mario’s Closet

Mario's Closet

Mario decides what to wear

Artwork by Glen Brogan, and before you mention anything about any missing costumes: from the artist himself:

I wanted to include as many of his power-ups as possible, but the main rule I had to follow was that I couldn’t include things that actually transform Mario himself rather that just changing his wardrobe, like the Boo mushroom from Mario Galaxy that turns him into a ghost. So I’ve mentally prepared myself for the barrage of ‘OMG WHY DIDNT U INCLUDE THIS 1 ON THERE U R DUM.’

Anyway, it made me LOL, and is in the running for a possible tshirt design at Splitreason.

Vote for it!

Geek Blog – Halloween Fun

It seems we have a little bit of a Mario fetish at our house.  Decals on the walls and shower curtains.  Some of this has bled over into our Halloween fever.  The GeekWife is an awesome tailor and always comes through with the best costumes for us (Halloween or not).  This year is no different.  More pics after the jump, including one of the little geek as a 900 year-old green guru.

Geek Blog – Klenginem: SuvwI’pu’ qan tu’lu’be

So, I thought that William Shatner’s rap video was weird.  Not to mention the techno remix of his “climbing a mountain” interview.  This takes the cake.  Eminem’s “Without You”: in Klingon!  Now we need someone to cover 50 cent in Tolkein Quenya.

Thanks to Klenginem!

Geek Blog – Mega Wall

8-bit art FTW!  My Mega Man wall has finally come to fruition.  From the moment we moved into our new house, I wanted to add some geek zest to a few rooms.  I’ve already posted the beginnings of the Mario Bathroom (which will bleed over into the little geek’s room).  For this project, I used an awkward wall in our office to post the 8×10 glossy prints of the Mega Man stage select screen.  Mega Man 2 is my test case.  Eventually, I’d love to move to digital picture frames, so I can cycle the bosses (or even turn some squares to empty) on a timer, by season, month, whatever.

Geek Blog – Star Wars retold by a 3-year old.

Lately I’ve been finding ways to squeeze child-friendly geek shows into my Netflix queue: Captain N, Star Wars: Ewok Adventures and Darkwing Duck among them.  I’m excited as the little geek starts to express himself more clearly and coherently and can’t wait until he starts discussing geeky things with his papa.

Baby Murloc

Little Geek had an early start as a Murloc. "Grgggglrgggle!"

In that vein, I’ve included a hilarious video of a little girl recapping Star Wars: A New Hope.  She discusses Luke’s training, the robots, Artoo and the shiny guy (”the shiny guy always worries”).  Just remember: “Don’t talk back to Darth Vader; he’ll get ya!”
