Geek Blog – Blizzard Announces New WoW Expansion

The Mists of Pandaria!

Pandaren Monks have been a humorous inside joke in the Warcraft universe for quite sometime; made more real as a non-combat pet you can purchase from Blizzard’s online store; and now a playable Race/Class in the just announced expansion trailer.

In addition to a new class, race and starting zone, WoW players will get a level-cap increase (to 90), a new continent, Challenge-Mode dungeons, PVE scenarios and a pet combat system (WTF?).

As a player since day 01, I hope this can offer some competition to the impending SWTOR competition.

Geek Blog – Out-Geeked on a Date

Geek Girl culture has been smashing it’s way to front of many circles in a way that only She-Hulk can appreciate.  This topic is often still handled with “kid gloves”; Katrina Bowden shows us just how unnecessary that is.  This juxtaposition scratches much deeper than the surface idea of a “nerdier-than-thou” Geek Girl and may even help promote tolerance and even encourage many geeks to tone it down somewhat as it’s not enjoyable to be on the other side of that fence.

As always, CollegeHumor hits it right on the head.

Geek Blog – Top Father’s Day Gift

From my list anyway.  Not necessarily THE top father’s day gift I could receive; April 19th is my GeekPrincess’s birthday – THAT tops the list.  This year, she turns one and does so on Father’s Day.  Last year, she surprised us the day before GeekWife and I were planning on attending Star Wars in Concert (I had to give the tickets to a very gracious co-worker).

It seems fitting that this series of events that culminate on Father’s Day would loosely parallel Nintendo’s latest ad for their soon to be released flagship: Ocarina of Time for the 3DS.

Side Note: TIL Robin Williams named his daughter after damsel in distress from the golden cartridge.

Geek Blog – A Link to the Future

YouTube user 3GI has put together a pretty good mashup of The Legend of Zelda and Back to the Future.  A clever way of tidying up the ultra-messy Zelda timeline.

Geek Blog – Princess’ Boyfriends

I’ve got to hand it to CollegeHumor for this one.  Too bad they make Link out to be such a fairy….

Geek Blog – Epic Mario Coordination

YouTube user lara6683 can play the violin.  She can even play Mario themes on said violin.  What makes her unique in this geek’s eyes is that she can do all the above while playing DDR.

You GO, girl!

Geek Blog – Bluegrass Mario

Bluegrass cover band The Cleverlys love a good night with MaximUK in one hand and their joystick in the other…. but then again, who doesn’t?

Here, they play the iconic tune in what looks to be their dressing room.  That’s gal-darn fantastic!
