Geek Blog – Star Wars The Old Republic E3 Trailer Gives Me “Hope”
/drool
My understanding of this game is that it isn’t a “traditional” MMO such as EverQuest or WoW, but rather a single-player game, wrapped in a massive, multiplayer universe. You drive your own storyline by choosing dialogue options a la Mass Effect (another Bioware marvel) and can play the same class twice with vastly different effects.
Group up with others and as you interact with NPCs, you also influence your partner’s (or party’s) storyline.
Finally we get to see a Jedi in action!

Geek Blog – WoW Players Have RLs Too
Awesome entry into the “4-day Film” Category at the Darklight Film Festival. That means this beauty was filmed, FX’d and comp’d within a 4-day span. Not sure how I’d react to a Tauren in the elevator.

Geek Blog – WoW Chicks Music Video
I should admit this up front: I’m a dude who has a chick avatar in WoW. Mysstress is just that, a mistress to my main: an undead, male, mage. I figured I made my first toon into a rough characterization of myself but wanted the next character (whom I’d inevitably watch for hours upon hours during the journey to level 80) to at least be decent to look at. As a horde player, that left me with very limited options (Troll Chick, Cow Chick, Rotting Chick, or Blood Elf Chick). My decision was almost made for me (and if I used audio very often while playing, I may have chosen to move to Alliance) and although I can’t stand the valley girl emotes, Mysstress was born (on Hyjal, BTW).
The following video purports that dudes play as chicks to get the lootz. I think there are far more sexier reasons than just in-game gear. Enjoy the dancing pixels. Who pays (in game) for an (ingame) lapdance? Thanks, YumfriesWOW.

Geek Blog – Yeah, I Like WoW
This song has been making the inter-meme rounds lately and I found a WoW-related one that is pretty darn decent.

Geek Blog – Geek Music Videos
I’m not sure what it is exactly that makes geeky girls few and far between. I lucked out with the Geek Wife (who is pure AWESOME, btw). They say the geek will inherit the earth, and from the following videos, I’d almost believe it. Yet… I still know quite a few geeks who haven’t experienced the bliss that is female geek (or gamergirl, or whatever you want to call it)
BTW: if you like what you see/hear, help support the girl geeks!

Geek Blog – WoW Commercials
Got a busy week going on, so I’m going to post a collection of the celebrity WoW characters commercials. Enjoy.

Geek Blog – WoW + Mtn. Dew = Gamer Fuel
Back when Halo3 was coming out, Mtn. Dew did a promotion with Microsoft that branded cases of soda with the Master Chief for a limited time. It looks like they’ve returned to that marketing model, this time teaming up with Blizzard. Check out the 30 second commercial where a couple of gals in line at the grocery store shed their human visages and duke it out in the aisles, Horde v Alliance.
In addition to being able to get hyper-caffeinated for the late-night raid sessions, players are also encouraged, if they visit the promotional website to convert their existing World of Warcraft account into a battle.net account, rewarding those who do with a US only promotional pet, the gamerfuel Battle-bot!
Users can return to the promotional site daily, in order to stock up on “fuel” for their battle-bots, because encountering a “loaded” bot of the opposite faction (red for horde, blue for alliance, just like the drinks) will initiate a battle between the two “non-combat” pets. Pets of the same faction, when grouped two or more will link up with a lightning arc of their faction’s color.
Although I haven’t been playing much lately (Circoenn on Hyjal), I went through the process (which was rather painless) and got my very own bot on all my characters. I’ll check back tomorrow for a case of my own virtual gamer fuel.
