Geek Blog – Middle English Rap
We’ve seen Shatner rap Shakespeare, and Klenginem rap in Klingon; this video takes it. The cake, that is. Red Yak produced the video (read the story here) and posted it under the YouTube user name veryredyak. The rhythm of Middle English really lends itself to a hip-hop medium, and Chaucer’s epic Canturbury Tales is poetic, hence the rhyming aspect. For my Word Origins/Linguistics course (medieval literature major) in college, part of my final was memorizing, and reciting (properly, which these guys to wonderfully) the General Prologue from the Tales.

Geek Blog – “Follow Me” Unites Hip-Hop and 8-Bit
Pato Pooh and Adam Tensta are a couple of Swedish hip-hop artists representin’ Stockholm. In their latest collaboration, they produced the following video, Follow Me. The video is full of pop culture references and internet memes (Tay Zonday, All Your Base, Peanut Butter/Jelly Time) as well as throwbacks (Pooh said he wants to “rewind”) to old gaming classics, Mega Man, Street Fighter, Starfox (do a barrel roll!), TMNT, Donkey Kong, Punch Out!!, Super Mario World, Legend of Zelda, Ice Climbers, Back to the Future, Tetris, Kirby, Duck Hunt and hehe Pong.
