Geek Blog – Math Geek Love Equation

This is for the GeekWife; I’ve been on the road from work for quite some time and now that I’m back, want to show her a token of appreciation.  She’s a bit of Math Geek, and she loved the Harold and Kumar Root 3 Poem, so here goes:

Geek Blog – The Problem with Warping

To warp or not to warp, that is the question that faces us at the end of World 1-2, after finding the whistle in the first fortress of the first World, when you open the path to the first star road in the Donut Plains and as you toss a potion in Dream-Con next to a jar you know will take you to World 4.

Not nearly as fundamental as the question “To turtle-trap or not to turtle-trap”; this conundrum still plagues our youth.  Or not.

Is it cheating?  If so, who are you cheating?  Bowser would have you believe you are cheating yourself.

Geek Blog – WoW Players Have RLs Too

Awesome entry into the “4-day Film” Category at the Darklight Film Festival.  That means this beauty was filmed, FX’d and comp’d within a 4-day span.  Not sure how I’d react to a Tauren in the elevator.

Geek Blog – Yeah, I Like WoW

This song has been making the inter-meme rounds lately and I found a WoW-related one that is pretty darn decent.

Geek Blog – Halloween Fun

It seems we have a little bit of a Mario fetish at our house.  Decals on the walls and shower curtains.  Some of this has bled over into our Halloween fever.  The GeekWife is an awesome tailor and always comes through with the best costumes for us (Halloween or not).  This year is no different.  More pics after the jump, including one of the little geek as a 900 year-old green guru.

Geek Blog – Things Your Kids May Never Know

The GeekDad authors at Wired have posted an interesting article relating to older technologies that we may be familiar with now as adults, but our children will never get exposure from.  Some items were humorous, others, a little frightening.  I’ve picked my favorite 10, but encourage you to read the article.

17) That there was a time before ‘reality TV.’ (I can’t believe there was such a thing!)
30) Blowing the dust out of a NES cartridge in the hopes that it’ll load this time. (I’m guilty of this)
33) Having to delete something to make room on your hard drive.
37) Finding out information from an encyclopedia. (You can find information in books??)
38) Using a road atlas to get from A to B.
62) Getting lost. With GPS coming to more and more phones, your location is only a click away.
75) LEGO just being square blocks of various sizes, with the odd wheel, window or door.
81) Han shoots first. (I can’t stress this one enough)
82) “Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father.” But they’ve already seen episode III, so it’s no big surprise. (*sigh*)
86) Finding books in a card catalog at the library. (You mean that place where we go to get free wifi?)
Bonus:
100) When a ‘geek’ and a ‘nerd’ were one and the same. (I’m actually kind of glad this one changed)

Trailer Tuesday: Clone Wars, Tron, Alice in Wonderland

New trailers that caught my eye last weekend:

Alice in Wonderland: Tim Burton’s dark re-imagining, although backed by Disney is still quite like an acid trip.  Johnny Depp gleefully plays the mad hatter, with Anne Hathaway as the White Queen and Helena Carter as the Red Queen.  Other stars cast include: Alan Rickman, Michael Sheen, Stephen Fry, Crispin Glover and Christopher Lee.  This is one of the Geek Wife’s favorite shows – I hope she loves it!  In theaters March 5, 2010.
