Geek Blog – Happy Holidays!
GeekWife just informed me that I’m slacking a little on my posts. “Y U no post New Year yet?” she asks.
Truth is, Star Wars: The Old Republic happened.
On a related note: Happy New Year!

Geek Blog – Dueling Cellos
ThePianoGuys have an awesome video for Cello enthusiasts and Star Wars fans alike!
Poor Vader just can’t catch a break!
The GeekWife plays the occasional cello. I hope she hearts this.

Geek Blog – SpoCon 2011
August 12, 13 and 14 of 2011 was the Annual SpoCon: Spokane, Washington’s geek-fest. The GeekWife and I took a mini-vacation away from the LittleGeeks for some play of our own.
I was out of town for work Friday, so we didn’t start our escapade until early Saturday afternoon. I’ll admit, this was my first Con, so I was a tad anxious. The Con offered many choices for entertainment and education. Workshops for CosPlayers, LAN Gaming, Board Gaming, writers’ workshops, a Masquerade and Rave as well as an Art Show/Auction – options, options!
We arrived at Spokane’s DoubleTree hotel sometime after lunch and as we navigated the crowds toward the front desk for checkin, we were greeted by a young man in full Ultramarine Power Armor! Farther down the hall sat Boushh, presumably enjoying a short break in the tides. After check-in, GeekWife and I hurried to our room at the 11th floor and quickly changed into our Con garb. Geekwife had created an excellent corset by weaving together a ton of WoW cards (doubles of doubles, and alliance to boot, she assures me). I donned my favorite costume: the Jedi Robes. We then promptly headed back downstairs to see what it was all about.
365 Challenge – Day 017 “Imzadi”
Day 017, aside from being one of my five lucky numbers, is dedicated to my GeekWife, the Imzadi in my life. Imzadi is a Betazoid term describing the spiritual, physical and mental connection one has for their first True Love. My wedding band creates the heart-shaped shadow in the spine of the novel, and you can almost read its inscription “You are my World”.
I love you, GeekWife.

365 Challenge – Days 2, 3 and 4
I realized quickly during Independence Day Weekend that I’ll not be able to post a pic every day. I’m still ensuring that I take a picture each day, but not necessarily post them that same day. Many websites that outline this challenge suggest uploading at a minimum of once per week, if only to minimize any building overhead to stave off feeling overwhelmed by it all. Additionally, I doubt all of my daily pictures will be geeky (although I’ll try), so I’ll not bore my audience with posts flowers, clouds etc. You can still see links to all of the pictures as they come out here (this site) or here (Photobucket).
Without further ado, here’s Day 002, with the others after the jump.
I dug out my most beat-up D20 for this shot, taken on a WoW:TCGj playmat, just before an epic game of Magic with GeekWife.
365 Challenge – Day 001
GeekWife and I started a photography challenge together. Every day for the next year, we will strive to take a picture of some significance to the day. Admittedly, GeekWife has a much better camera than I. I will use a “real” camera when I can, but often will be forced to use my iPhone.
This is Day 001.
This picture is of a picture (how meta) of my LittleGeek as it sits on my desk at work. It looks as if he’s peeking out at Yoda.

Geek Blog – Out-Geeked on a Date
Geek Girl culture has been smashing it’s way to front of many circles in a way that only She-Hulk can appreciate. This topic is often still handled with “kid gloves”; Katrina Bowden shows us just how unnecessary that is. This juxtaposition scratches much deeper than the surface idea of a “nerdier-than-thou” Geek Girl and may even help promote tolerance and even encourage many geeks to tone it down somewhat as it’s not enjoyable to be on the other side of that fence.
As always, CollegeHumor hits it right on the head.

Geek Blog – Top Father’s Day Gift
From my list anyway. Not necessarily THE top father’s day gift I could receive; April 19th is my GeekPrincess’s birthday – THAT tops the list. This year, she turns one and does so on Father’s Day. Last year, she surprised us the day before GeekWife and I were planning on attending Star Wars in Concert (I had to give the tickets to a very gracious co-worker).
It seems fitting that this series of events that culminate on Father’s Day would loosely parallel Nintendo’s latest ad for their soon to be released flagship: Ocarina of Time for the 3DS.
Side Note: TIL Robin Williams named his daughter after damsel in distress from the golden cartridge.
