GeekWife’s Blog – My Favorite Game of All Time: Tetris
Posted by GeekWife in Games, GeekWife Blog on January 30th, 2010
This being my first-ever post as the GeekWife I figured I would start with an old passion and pastime of mine: Tetris. I can’t tell you whether it was the NES or the GameBoy that introduced me to this classic but I can tell you that I dedicated many hours of my life to mastering this game.
While Stumbling yesterday, I came across this Tetris/Mario Bros mash-up:
The tricky part of this game at first was figuring out the controls (mainly jump, which is ’s’ and ‘x’) seconded by having to avoid becoming Goomba food at the end.
After spending some time and frustration on that game, and at the recommendation of SnowytheGeek himself, I was introduced to this gem:
All I can say is “wow”.
Enjoy the games!

Geek Blog – Final Fantasy + Music Video = Win
I’m not entirely sure what drove me to dredge the interwebs’ series of tubes for “Final Fantasy Music Video” this morning, but I pulled up some real gems. In addition to the two singles that came from the under-valued FFX-2 (Real Emotion and 1000 Words) by Koda Kumi, but also some more modern tracks that go hand in hand with choice cut scenes from the Final Fantasy series. Here we have Clay Aiken’s “The Way” which I’ll dedicate to my lovely Geek Wife. Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life”, Mariah Carey’s “Bye Bye” and the two FFX-2 singles are below the jump.
Geek Blog – Hit by the Green Koopa Shell of Jealousy
Happyseamstress recently posted the “Nerdiest Sweater Vest in the World,” an awesome knitted, wearable, World 1-1. She even reports having to dye her own yarn to get the right color for the pipe and bush.
Kotaku author Owen Good calls it like it is:
So if this sweater makes him the world’s biggest geek, it also makes her the world’s most awesome wife. (cited)
See the back of this awesome creation after the jump. (And, for the record, my GeekWife is the most awesome).
Geek Blog – A Battlestar Rhapsody
I haven’t watched the Battlestar Galactica reboot in its entirety yet; however, since the Geek Wife and I have finished our epic journey through all 25 discs in the Star Trek: TNG series, it’s near the top of my list of shows to watch every night before bed.
I digress.
Here’s a great parody of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, popularized by Wayne’s World, that tells the Galactica story.
**SPOILER ALERT**
The video is after the jump and may contain spoilers. You have been warned.
Geek Blog – Halloween Fun
It seems we have a little bit of a Mario fetish at our house. Decals on the walls and shower curtains. Some of this has bled over into our Halloween fever. The GeekWife is an awesome tailor and always comes through with the best costumes for us (Halloween or not). This year is no different. More pics after the jump, including one of the little geek as a 900 year-old green guru.
Geek Blog – Apple Store Love Song
A funny, geeky music video put out by FAttYSPiNS. I strongly doubt I’ll ever fall in love at an Apple Store (A: Already Married, B: the only Apple gadgets I get are given to me, C: I build my own PCs). Regardless, this video has more than enough geek factor to be included on these pages. Enjoy!
Look out for their latest video: “Doin Your Mom” LOL

Trailer Tuesday: Clone Wars, Tron, Alice in Wonderland
New trailers that caught my eye last weekend:
Alice in Wonderland: Tim Burton’s dark re-imagining, although backed by Disney is still quite like an acid trip. Johnny Depp gleefully plays the mad hatter, with Anne Hathaway as the White Queen and Helena Carter as the Red Queen. Other stars cast include: Alan Rickman, Michael Sheen, Stephen Fry, Crispin Glover and Christopher Lee. This is one of the Geek Wife’s favorite shows – I hope she loves it! In theaters March 5, 2010.
The Square Root of Three (√3)
In lieu of posting one of my own poems today, I thought I’d post something for my wife instead. While hitting my usual gamut of geeky websites I saw posted on GeeksAreSexy (GAS) a poem recited by Kumar Patel of White Castle fame (Kal Penn) and allegedly written by David Feinberg. It’s my wife’s favorite poem of all time and is posted here in dedication to her. I love you sweetie.
And now for the actual poem:
The Square Root of Three
I fear that I will always be
A lonely number like root three
The three is all that’s good and right,
Why must my three keep out of sight
Beneath a vicious square root sign,
I wish instead I were a nine
For nine could thwart this evil trick,
with just some quick arithmetic
I know I’ll never see the sun,
As 1.7321
Such is my reality, a sad irrationality
When hark! For what is this I see,
Another square root of a three
As quietly come waltzing by,
Together now we multiply
To form a number we prefer,
Rejoicing as an integer
We break free from our mortal bonds
And with a wave of magic wands
Our square root signs become unglued
Your love for me has been renewed
