Geek Blog – Video Game Musicians
I’m a huge fan of video game music. OCRemix is my ultimate source for digital music, remixed or otherwise. I seldom get an opportunity to enjoy such creations from an analog source; however, I’d be first in line if Play! – a Video Game Symphony came to my area. After the jump, enjoy a couple of great scores performed by real people, using real instruments. As I understand it, FFIV – A Theme of Love is standard curriculum in Japanese music classes.
Geek Blog – Final Fantasy + Music Video = Win
I’m not entirely sure what drove me to dredge the interwebs’ series of tubes for “Final Fantasy Music Video” this morning, but I pulled up some real gems. In addition to the two singles that came from the under-valued FFX-2 (Real Emotion and 1000 Words) by Koda Kumi, but also some more modern tracks that go hand in hand with choice cut scenes from the Final Fantasy series. Here we have Clay Aiken’s “The Way” which I’ll dedicate to my lovely Geek Wife. Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life”, Mariah Carey’s “Bye Bye” and the two FFX-2 singles are below the jump.
Geek Blog – The History of the World of Video Game Music
A musical displaying the history of video game music from the ancient Atari days through the glory of SNES-dom. Remixed and produced by remix artist Norg. A good trip down Nostalgia Ave.

Geek Blog – Lyrics for the Final Fantasy Theme
We all make up words for songs we hear on the radio. Some of us, even make up words for symphonic pieces. Gene Roddenberry devised (demised?) lyrics for his original Star Trek. The creme de la geek make up lyrics for popular video game themes.
YT user, brentalfloss put together this nice remix with lyrics. The Star Trek theme in action, after the jump.

Geek Blog – New OCRemix Album
Echoes of Betrayal, Light of Redemption hits the interwebs today; the latest (14th) album produced by the folks at OverClocked Remixes. In their words:
OverClocked ReMix is an organization dedicated to the appreciation, preservation, and interpretation of video game music. Its primary focus is ocremix.org, a website featuring hundreds of free fan arrangements, information on game music and composers, resources for aspiring artists, and a thriving community of video game music fans.
I’ve listened to many of their remixes, but the epic nature of the Final Fantasy and RPG series really lends itself to some serious awesomeness and are by far my favorites. The fact that this particular remix (3 discs total) revolves around FFIV (FFII during its initial SNES release in the US) only adds to it’s epic-ness. It was the first FF game to have more than 4 playable characters; the first to use an active battle system. The game itself has been remixed several times for handheld platforms and should be in the gaming library of anyone who considers themselves an RPG fanatic (including this geek, who has it on SNES, GBA and PS).
My torrent just finished downloading, so I’m gonna plug in and give it a listen. Enjoy the trailer below and get the torrent from their website:
